The basic idea:

Be a guest at your teacher's house in a quiet rural environment: Listen to German, speak German and study German in German surroundings. This total immersion is the most effective way to gain a real grasp and ease of use of the language - all the more so if you already have some knowledge of rules and forms. Classes will focus on what you need. And as for the rest of the time, you will have many opportunities to hear and speak a lot of German.

Course options:

Intensive German	The programme Intensive German comes with 20 German lessons per week (45 minutes each). In between tuition time you will be able to work on self-studying material that will be handed out according to your individual level. This may be written exercises for repetition as well as handouts to prepare the next step. Example of a week's timetable
German & seeing the sights	During a week "On the road" with your German teacher you will be learning German while seeing the sights . There will be less time spent at the desk but a lot of German conversation on excursions together with your teacher - on foot, by bycicle or by car. Thus you will get to know the beautiful countryside and towns of our Allgäu region. Example of a week's timetable
One-to-one	Most of my students choose the "classic" one-on-one. This is how you get full-immersion language training.
Two-to-one	You can, of course, also bring along a partner to join you in your studies or to spend your holidays with.
Families or groups	HausTanne can also accommodate families or groups who want to have lessons together and see a bit of Germany. More on this

Language instruction

Deutsch im Gespräch - Really speaking German can offer a highly individual approach. Depending on your previous knowledge, needs and interests, classes may focus on speaking and listening skills, pronunciation, grammar, text comprehension, written exercises, translations or more individualized requirements such as German for musicians, Richard-Wagner fans, business people, sales representatives, students facing a certain exam and so on.
Your teacher has many years of experience in language teaching on all levels and will choose adequate teaching material. On booking the programme, you can already fill in the German test to give the teacher a clue of what you need. You can also hand in your choice of topics of discussion or bring along teaching material you want to work on with.

Most important:
You will really speak German (even if you have so far tried to avoid it being afraid of committing mistakes!)
Written exercises are important as well. In order to make the time spent with the teacher most efficient, written language work will be set for self-study time in between classes.

Where to stay

If you choose one-to-one, you will have a single room with bathroom and WC at "Haus Tanne". 2 guests can either have single rooms or a double room.
For accommodation you may choose between two categories: Standard and Hotel. "Hotel" offers daily hotel service: cleaning of room, bathroom, towels.
While you are staying at Haus Tanne, you will have full board. You will spend your week as your teacher's guest, taking part in all the meals - which allows you to improve your conversational skills in German tremendously!

Haus Tanne

Haus Tanne is a renovated manor-house built about 1820. It is run by your German teacher as a bed&breakfast place and usually also lodges German guests for various kinds of courses and conferences or just for a holiday.
The house is equippped with TV and access to the internet from the guest rooms. Laundry service or use of washing-machine. Vegetarian food on demand. Sauna.

The village

Our small village Kreuzthal-Eisenbach is part of the "Allgäu", a region of beautiful hills and mountains in the very South of Germany reaching towards Bodensee (Lake Constance) in the Southwest and towards the Austrian border in the South.
The most characteristic features are rolling green hills of pasture land, grazing brown cattle, the Alpine mountain range to the South, small rural settlements with red slate roofs and large churches, well-kept towns, and unpolluted air.

The nearest Autobahns are A 96 (Exit Leutkirch-Süd/Herlazhofen) or A 7 to Kempten.

Leisure

All year round, Haus Tanne in the small village of Kreuzthal/Eisenbach provides an ideal starting point for excursions by car or bicycle, walks or hiking trips and cross-country skiing in winter. Right in the village you may also take painting lessons with a local artist or go horse-back riding.
The programme German & seeing the sights will offer you the most opportunities of enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Allgäu region in Southern Germany or reaching places of cultural interest, such as: a hiking trip in the Alps, a visit to King Ludwig's fairy tale castle of Neuschwanstein, to the medieval town centers of Kempten, Leutkirch, Isny and Ravensburg or an excursion to Lindau and Lake Constance and some of the splendid baroque churches of Southern Bavaria.
